Start with the document and its intended use

A contract for an internal review and a court document for submission can require different translation arrangements. Tell your provider what the document is, who will receive it and how the translation will be used.

Urgent Vertalen arranges legal document translations. Share the recipient’s instructions at the start so we can quote for the required language, format and service.

Confirm whether a sworn translation is required

Do not assume that every legal document needs a sworn translation. Ask the recipient what it requires. Our explanation of sworn and certified translations helps you distinguish the terms before ordering.

For a Dutch sworn translation, the translator’s registration and court oath matter. The Bureau Wbtv register lets you check registered translators and the relevant language details. A provider’s business certification and a translator’s sworn status are separate checks.

Ask about relevant document experience

Explain the type of legal document and any specialist terminology it contains. Ask how the provider will handle repeated terms, names, references and attachments across the files in your request.

Provide any approved terminology or existing translations that need to be followed. If the source text is ambiguous, agree how questions will be referred back to you rather than leaving the translator to guess your intended meaning.

Agree the files, checks and delivery

Confirm which pages and supporting documents need translating, who will answer questions and how the files will be shared. Agree the translation format and any review requirements before work begins.

Urgent Vertalen is certified to ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 17100 for translation services and ISO 27001 for information security. Our policy statement and certificates explain this business-level certification. It does not replace the recipient’s document requirements.

Request a quote for the work you need

Request your no-obligation quote with the document details, source and target languages, recipient’s instructions and deadline. Our advisers will confirm the scope, price and delivery time before you decide.

For work involving several official documents, see our document translation services. Keep any legalisation requirements in the brief so translation and authentication can be planned together where applicable.

Check the relevant evidence

Use the Bureau Wbtv register overview (in Dutch) to check sworn-translator registration. For the service itself, read our legal translation information and share the receiving organisation’s requirements.

Once you have chosen the service, our document preparation checklist helps you organise the files, page scope and instructions for your request.
