In those cases, we assign one of our sworn translators to the job. Our sworn translators are Hbo-level certified, which means that they have obtained a relevant bachelor’s degree and that they are authorized by the court to translate official documents such as a deed, diploma, Chamber of Commerce extract or a birth certificate.

Having your documents translated by an official translator
A sworn translation is often referred to as an ‘official translation’. But not every document needs to be translated by a sworn translator. Some examples of sworn translation that we provide on a daily basis are: birth certificates, general terms and conditions, diplomas, last wills and mortgage deeds. Most of these documents are required for submission to official authorities and therefore require a sworn translation. A sworn translation includes the stamp(s), signature and statement of the sworn translator.

In order to obtain a sworn translation of the relevant document, The Hague’s leading translation bureau only needs a clearly legible and unedited scan or photo of the original document. Your document(s) will be translated by one of our translators, who is a native speaker of the target language Of course, your translation adviser will assign the sworn translator with the skills necessary for the specialist jargon used in your document. Upon completion of the translation, a copy of the original will be printed and attached to the translation. Finally, the sworn translator adds their signature, stamp and their statement to the document. At that point, the sworn translation has the status of ‘official document’ within the Netherlands.
If you need the sworn translation of your document for purposes abroad, the sworn translation must be legalized. The legalization ensures that your sworn translation is regarded as an official document abroad as well.
