About the Romanian language
The Romanian language is a remnant of military Latin, which was spoken by the Roman legions based in the province of Dacia. Since the fall of the Roman Empire, Romanian has developed in isolation from the other Romance languages. In the west, the Romance languages were in constant contact with each other, such as French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. This while Romanian developed in its own way. In Romanian you will therefore also encounter elements of Latin, which have been lost in the other Romance languages. Nevertheless, there are still some similarities. People who speak French or Latin will encounter familiar words in Romanian.
