About the Romanian language
The Romanian language is a remnant of military Latin, which was spoken by the Roman legions based in the province of Dacia. Since the fall of the Roman Empire, Romanian has developed in isolation from the other Romance languages. In the west, the Romance languages were in constant contact with each other, such as French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. This while Romanian developed in its own way.
